The Prophecy of Destruction - Page 3 Empty Re: The Prophecy of Destruction

Post by RPGbot Fri Sep 07, 2012 2:26 pm

As the battle commences, Dresden takes down 4 with a sweep of his long sword and their clustered nature. Zeek shoots two arrows but both ended up hitting the same target. Arashi managed to take down one of the kobolds. Blade manages to sneak upon a group but when he punts it it lands on on the other kobolds and lives. Zeek's other arrow hits the final kobold in the arm and cripples his sword arm. Flint then steps on the kobolds chest breaking ribs and finishing it off. As the adventurer's turn to protect their left flank from the last three the larger group attacks.

Dresden is about to attack the group of three when he hears a sound. The crunching of marching feet. He looks to his left and sees a larger army attacking. Without having time to say anything he rushes off towards them. He prepares a spell he learned from a mage of a distant land. He throws a couple seeds onto the ground and places his sword into the ground a ways and channels earth magic through it. He then forms it into a tangle bush. It reaches out to any near it and captures them. He only had time to create two before the kobolds were upon him. Hopefully they were enough. As the kobolds came he attacked with the little strength he has left.

Arashi has Hozukimaru at his right side about to help out Dresden fight off the 3 kobolds left. Then all of a sudden, because of his enhanced senses, he could hear a faint sound of footsteps coming from his left side. He jumped really high in the air, away from the 3 kobolds he had intentionally was going to fight. He landed on a tree branch and saw Dresden below him on the crossroad. Arashi was thinking of what he should do and he thought up a new technique. Arashi, seeing Dresden make some kind of bush shaped magic, jumped as high as he could in the air toward the Kobold troops. Arashi, with all his might and some demonic power, he came down trying to destroy a portion of the kobolds away with a stabbing motion downward to the ground pouring his power and might into the ground. His sword was radiating a dark aura as he was falling toward the ground. Arashi yelled out the name of his new ability as he was falling. "DARK EARTHQUAKE!"

Zeek seeing 2 of his arrows hit one he felt kind of upset and seeing his other take out ones sword arm was a bit better he guessed. Seeing flint take out the injured one Zeek then released 3 arrows at the remaining 3 kobolds. after he fired he looked over at Arashi and seeing him look in a different direction he did not think anything of it. Not until his horse has made a low rumble which made Zeek look again and noticed a large group to the left he was a bit shocked at the numbers but prepared himself.

Dresden creates two bushes. However they were different species of tangle bush. One eats the life forms in it causing a slow painful death to the kobolds in it and other just holds them. Arashi's new technique, he calls "Dark Earthquake", cracked the ground wide open causing many a kobold to fall into the earth to the nether-realm. The three kobolds left from the first attack were felled by Zeek's accurate shots with the bow. Blade finally felt the presence of the other kobolds. Flints manticore went on a killing spree and attacked everything within site. The three warrior felled all enemies in the vicinity. However, the manticore started to finish killing the kobolds in the tangle bush and got caught himself. There are five kobolds left living in the bush.

Dresden studied his work with interest. He hadn't known that there were different breeds of tangle bush. Maybe his magic had something to do with it. Either way, he went to the tangle tree bush and spoke the geis in a whisper so none may here him. The tree relaxed its leaves and he took seeds off of it. He did the same to the other tree and left the kobolds held within. He got some rope and released ant tied each kobold one by one. He then burned the trees with controlled fire so as not to harm the environment with the introduction of the species. He walked over to his allies and turned toward the newcomer.

I'm sorry about the rudeness of my party. I'm Dresden and I think this is your axe? I found it in my tree. The one with the red sword is Arashi, the one with the bow is Zeek. And the weird cat guy is Blade. We are on our way to Shadowfell. We each received an anonymous letter saying that we were to go to Shadowfell and that we were to meet someone else along the way. Do you know anything about it? Either way you are welcome to join our party. The more help the better.

Dresden then moved on to the rest of the party. I'm not good at this part so.... who wants to interrogate the prisoners about who sent them to attack us?

Having successfully made up his new move he wiped off some dirt off his Gi and sheathed his sword and walked over to the new comer to greet him, pretending the remaining 5 kobolds weren't even there. "Hello. We are apparently new found comrades. It's nice to meet you." Arashi puts his hand out to shake his hand. "I'm Arashi."

Zeek looks at Flint, trying to figure if he is an enemy or not but after seeing him in action he thinks hes friendly. Zeek stays cautious and says "Hello." After saying hello Zeek gets off of his horse, un-slings his bow and walks over to the kobolds and as he is walking he draws his saxe knife. Looking at the creatures he asks one of them where they came from and what are they doing here in a very serious, and demanding voice.

Kobold 1: Spits in Zeek's face.

Zeek: Brings up his saxe knife and swings it at the kobold who spat in his face cutting his head off. "So if the rest of you wish to live then start talking."

Kobolds 2-4: Start clamoring together in such a way they are unclear in what they are saying
Kobold 5: Sits quietly

Zeek: Looks at the cowering kobolds and yells at them so shut up and waits for them to calm down a bit. Zeek then looks as the kobold 5 and asks him, "where did you guys come from and why are you here attacking us?"

Kobold 5: The Priest of Orcus sent us to stop any warriors from entering the village. We are lowly kobold warriors. Our leaders are camped a few miles east of the village

Zeek informs the rest of the group of why the kobolds are here and the group enters the city. As they release the kobolds, the kobolds drop dead. The group enters the town and agree to meet up in the tavern in an hour.

Chapter 1
The Adventure Begins

WinterHaven
Population 997
The Prophecy of Destruction - Page 3 Preview_h1_1

1: Outer Gate and Walls
Open by day, closed and barred at night, the outer gate is
policed by two guards regardless of the hour. They nod
amiably to locals, and point travelers (whom they assume
to be traders) to Wrafton’s Inn.

2: Wrafton’s Inn
This spacious inn and tavern serves as the public house
for the region. Like alehouses everywhere, Wrafton’s
Inn offers beer, wine, and, on occasion, spirits. Meals are
served for those with the coin, and beds for travelers are
available. A crowd of villagers gathers each night to drink,
gossip, sing, and play games of chance.
In addition to village residents, any travelers passing
through Winterhaven are found here.

3: Market Square
Every other day or so, carts and wagons gather in the
square and offer goods to the people of Winterhaven.
Once each week, the official Market Day acts as a siren’s
song, calling most of the villagers to shop and socialize in
the square. Farmers sell produce, hunters hawk smoked
meats, villagers sell crafts, and sometimes a trader from
the east sells implements or costly goods.

4:Stables
On market days these stables are filled with mounts and
other beasts of burden used by sellers to haul wares. Travelers
can stable their mounts here for 2 sp per day.

5: Smithy
A dwarf named Thair Coalstriker owns the village
smithy. Can purchase a variety of mundane wares
here, including spikes, weapons, heavy armor, and so on.
Simple weapons are readily available, but military weapons
require one day to complete, and superior weapons
require a week of work.

6: Valthrun’s Tower
This five-story structure is the highest building in Winterhaven.
The tower is rumored to be over 300 years old, and
Valthrun the Prescient is its most recent resident.
Valthrun doesn’t use much of the tower; he inhabits
the top two levels. The bottom three levels are locked and
empty except for the stairway connecting them to Valthrun’s
quarters.

7: Bairwin’s Grand Shoppe
Bairwin Wildarson traveled the world, or so he claims,
before setting up shop in Winterhaven ten years ago. He
has a variety of items available for sale

8: Warrior Guild
Winterhaven villagers can join the Warrior Guild and
train, once per week, in basic sword and shield skills. The
guild trains in Market Square on days when the market
is not open.

9: Tenements
The large tenement structure features apartments for the
village residents who don’t own farms or who work in the
businesses within the walls. Several families also live in
the homes (buildings labeled H) on the west side of the
village. Most of the villagers who live outside the walls are
farmers and crafters who bring their wares to the Market
Square to sell or trade.

10: Temple
This large stone structure is the village temple. Of the several
deities worshiped by locals, Avandra, goddess of luck
and change, is the most prominent.
The temple priest, Sister Linora, runs services in the
temple three times per week, but otherwise she is not
often present.
Graveyard: Winterhaven has a graveyard for which
Sister Linora serves as caretaker. The graveyard is located
a short distance south of the walled town.

11: Inner Gate
This gate is closed and guarded by two Winterhaven
guards during the daytime.

12: Winterhaven Siege Supplies
Though it hasn’t happened in a couple of years, on occasion
Winterhaven comes under attack from bands of
goblins, kobolds, or even gnolls. When such an event
happens, the villagers seek refuge inside the walled keep
and subsist on the supplies of water, flour, and other basic
foodstuffs stored here.

13: Winterhaven Barracks
This military-style barracks is home to Winterhaven’s ten
professional guards, the Regulars. During the day, only
two can be found here; the other eight are on patrol. At
night, eight guards sleep here while the two on duty are
stationed at the outer gate.

14: Manor House
This grand manor home was built when Winterhaven was
an outpost of the Nerath Empire. Staffed by five servants,
the manor house where Lord Padraig, his wife, and their
four sons live is a beautiful example of stone architecture
in a village otherwise composed of thatch and wood

Dresden enters the inn and quickly finds a corner seat. He reaches it at the same time as another man. He decides to give the table to the man. As he turns to leave the man speaks.

Wait, young man. You were polite so I shall be in return. Come and drink with me. My name is Valthrun.

Dresden sits with the man.

My name is Dresden. I'm pleased to make your acquaintance.

Dresden and the man strike upon many common interests from the Great Libraries to the Ancient Artifacts. The man and Dresden talk and drink for the following few hours.

During the time Valthrun introduced him to Salvana Wrafton, the proprietor of the Wrafton Inn and Eilian, a farmer from down the road. He also pointed out Ninaran, a quiet elf woman who doesn't like to socialize.

Both Eilian and Ninaran were at corner tables and Salvana was behind the bar

Arashi walks through the outer gates of WinterHaven he takes a look around and he wanders into the market square. Nothing in much interest just wild flowers. Arashi looks around for the merchant selling the wild flowers and saw someone behind the wooden cart. Arashi goes up to the front of the cart and see's it's a beautiful lady. The lady was messing with some of the flowers behind the cart and Arashi was just staring at her face in a daze of her beauty. The lady looks over to me and he's still in a daze and she was just about to say something.

May I help you?

Greetings. You have a lovely collection of wild flowers here, did you pick them all yourself?

Yes, I collect them north of the village. However it is more difficult with the goblins inhabiting the Keep now.

Goblins huh? Tell me more about these goblins.

They are only about three feet high with red eyes and dark grey skin. They are so creepy and they keep antagonizing me when I pick flowers. They are just horrible. But nevermind that. Did you say you were going to buy some flowers?

I'm not very interested in flowers right now sorry, but about this goblin problem I'll definitely take care of it for you. But before I go, can you give me a little bit more information? Like if they come out at night and if there is a horde of them?

There were a lot and they come out mostly during the day but the keep is locked and only Lord Padraig has the key. Thanks anyways though.

Alright, well if there is any way I can help please don't hesitate to ask. I'll be at Wrafton’s Inn for a few hours if you need me. By the way my name is Arashi Takeda, what's yours?

Delphina Moongem. And I will be here for a while if you wish to come back and talk.

Arashi then walks over to Wrafton’s Inn and walks inside to meet up with everybody else.

Zeek walks with Arashi for a bit then headed over to the stable and pays the person and keeps his horse there but does not bother to tie him up. Zeek just tells his horse to stay and it obeys.

Zeek then decided to walk around town a bit. Seeing something out of the ordinary and just checking people out seeing weather they are good, ok, or people to stay away from. Zeek walked towards the Tenements keeping close to buildings and seeing if he could hear anything and see something odd. then after that Zeek decided to walk to the market and look for a weapons trader but finds none and does end up finding Smithy, a local shop and walks in looking at some bows. Zeek then proceeds to talk to the shop keep

Hello. I am wondering what kind of bows you sell.

We have many bows. Tell me what you are looking for.

I am a ranger so I am looking for a bow that can help me in battle. I am thinking that is light and similar to a longbow

We have plenty of longbows. Is there a certain design you want?

Do you have any magical bows? More for the purpose of combat or dueling?

Naw. But I have a spell to enchant a bow. I could use it to make you a stronger bow. How strong of bow do you want?

I want the bow to be slightly more powerful

Aye. It will be ready in a week. But I require the money for materials now? That will be 4000 gold pieces

That is quite expensive. How about this? I am willing to pay 3000 gold and will help you make the bow in hope to speed up the time

I can't accept that. The magic alone costs that much. 3500

Hmm, I am thinking about 3250 and still willing to help craft the bow.

Deal... but you have to go get the wood yourself

That is fine. How long will it take to craft the bow with my help? I am unsure of how long I am going to be in town.

I'm not sure... It could take anywhere from a day to three

I am willing to work all night if it is required.

We shall see... Now go fetch the wood

Am I to collect it from a certain tree or can I buy the wood from the market. How much do we need?

It does not matter... but hurry, I'm a busy dwarf

I will be back in about half an hour.

Zeek walks out of the shop and walks out of the gates and into the forest in search for a yew tree. Once he finds the tree he cuts the wood needed for the bow and returns twenty minutes later and gives the wood to the dwarf. He tells the shop keep that he will be right back as he needs to meet some people at the Inn. and after he gets his business done there he would be back to help.

Blade notices how big the city is,especially when your only 3.5 feet tall, there were many buildings and houses, theirs so much to check out, he thinks to himself. he remembers that he has money in his shoe bottoms, his pockets and a few coins behind his headband. he sees a merchant selling ,supposedly, potions.

Yes i know its a lot of coins hidden in weird spots but im not taking any chances

talks too merchantI see your selling potions do they work?

Not only do they work they increase all power of every sort

do you have any for stamina?

ahh i see you are an athlete then? i have other potions for speed, power, magic, stamina, and for a limited time flying

I will take 5 of each then i have friend with me we are on a quest.

well then here you are that'ill be 25 coins sir.

what a coincidence i have that many coins

i must warn you though there are side effects the one with power enhancing will give you large hands/fist the speed enhancing will give you a high voice and a bit light headed afterwords the magic one the side effect is bad intestinal gas and stamina is you will pass out after use and the flying is that you will grow wings it last for several hours the potions effect will be useless after 10 minutes so the wings will be too. i have tried each of these potions as well.

is that why you have the squeaky voice?

yes this was the last i tried there seems to be no more side effects i took the potion an half hour ago.

it last that long?

yes each and every side effect

ok then well thanks

No than.....

before he can finish blade speeds off to the rest the town looking around. thinking i need to tell them the side effects when we meet back up as soon as he left the the man poofed into thin air and turned in to a kitten.

Flint hurries to the local tavern hoping to find information about the seal of his family... and of his heritage, however when he gets there he senses a mild atmosphere but notices it may soon become tense. So Flint decides to take a load off and buy himself a few drinks and trys to find a good drinking partner who may share stories of their travels. then he notices two men sharing stories at a table and joins them. only to find they are members of the warriors guild in the town. Flint asks "Do you have any tales of you deeds and have you heard any rumors about a drougar family icon gone missing" while then men had no info they suggested he talk to their guild master. the three men then exchange tales of their deeds. Flint had the most to tell due to his extensive travels. he also was invited to their local sparing match the next day.

I don't know what a Druegar is but Douvan is missing. His wife is from the village over and left this notice.

The party sat gathered around one table. They could hear inaudible whispers as the villagers discussed the group. One by one they shared their stories of how the day had gone and what they had learned. Valthrun came and talked to the group a bit about the surrounding landscape and then left. After his departure the group decided what to do....

A) Face the Kobolds

B) Go straight to the Keep and fight the Goblins

C) Find Douvan Staul

D) Split Up for now

The Prophecy of Destruction - Page 3 Empty Re: The Prophecy of Destruction

In a cold unforgiving cell Zantar had awoken from his sleep. He had been unconscious for the last 2 days. He had been found after stealing a really shiny staff. He had seen it when he was in the forest and waited till nightfall but little did Zantar know was that there were hidden guards as he did not see any with the man he stole the staff from.

In a low mumble tone to himself"What was I thinking? It was so shiny i couldn't resist. Hopefully my companion is safe and hidden. Why do I like shiny objects, why do I have to have them when there is no need for them?

Thoughts and what he sees and hears.I hear the creatures around here even though they are warded off. I need to find a way out but I can't grab the key. If I do I will die. There has to be something.. but what? I will have to think of something, or wait for someone or something I guess. I never see the guards but I know they are there, listening for any cry of help from me and then they will kill me. I don't have any of my stuff so i have no way of defending myself unless its with spells but even then is it gonna help? I still feel tired, weak, hungry.. very hungry. They hardly give me food and I can't hold out for much longer. I can summon creature so I can eat but that will draw attention. I may as well lay back down and sleep and think about what I should do. The only possibility I see of getting my gear and getting out is if someone comes and frees me. How will someone know I am here, locked in this unforgiving cell. I guess i may as well call it my Hell. What I get into I have to pay but this is ridiculous. I guess the person I tried to steal from is someone important..

Zantar lets out a low wine from his wolf voice. He decides to lay down on the uncomfortable stale hey bed that smells worse then a group of decay skunks, covers himself in a shredded dirty blanket, and falls asleep dreaming about how hes going to get out. He lays in wait for something to happen and hopefully soon. Hoping someone saves him from this cold dark Hell.
